Bobcats Drop First Conference Game of the Season

Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats dropped their first MAAC game of the season to the Fairfield Stags, 75-63, on Saturday evening in Hamden. With the loss, the Bobcats fell to 21-5 overall and 16-1 in conference play.
Ella O'Donnell led the Bobcats in scoring with 14 points on 6-for-8 (75%) shooting from the floor. O'Donnell finished the day with four rebounds and two assists. Anna Foley reached double figures with eleven points on 62.5% shooting from the field. Foley finished the evening with two rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block. Eight Bobcats recorded points in the loss to the Stags.

Ella Ryan got the Bobcats on the board first with a three-pointer just 28 seconds into the contest. From that point, the Bobcats outscored the Stags 8-5 to take an 11-5 lead at the media timeout. Out of the break, the Stags outscored the Bobcats 5-4, but Quinnipiac ended the first frame up 15-10.
The Stags opened the second quarter with a 9-4 run of their own to knot the game up at 19 with 6:04 to play in the half. After the Bobcats and Stags were knotted up at 22, Fairfield went on a 6-2 run to close out the half and take a 28-24 lead into the locker room.
Ella Ryan got Quinnipiac on the board first in the second half, but Fairfield responded with five of the next seven points to take a 33-28 lead as Carly Thibault-DuDonis called a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Bobcats outscored the Stags 10-6 to make it a one-point game at the media timeout, 39-38. The Stags closed out the quarter on a 12-9 run as they ended the frame with a 51-47 advantage.
Quinnipiac scored five of the first seven points in the final frame, making it a one-point game once again. From that point, Fairfield would outscore the Bobcats 22-11 to secure the win over QU as the Bobcats fell to 16-1.
