Quinnipiac Downs Sacred Heart in Fairfield

Fairfield, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats got back in the win column, defeating the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 55-39, on Saturday afternoon in Fairfield, Connecticut. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 22-5 overall and 17-1 in MAAC play.
Ella Ryan had a big day for the Bobcats, scoring a team-high 18 points on 63.6% shooting (7-for-11) from the floor and knocking down 50% (3-for-6) of her three-point attempts. Ryan's 18 points are the second-highest of her first season in Hamden. Anna Foley reached double digits, scoring ten points in the win. Foley grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists. Eight Bobcats recorded points in the 16-point win over the Sacred Heart Pioneers.

Anna Foley got the Bobcats on the board first, knocking down a jumper just 16 seconds into the contest. The Pioneers responded with a 6-4 run to knot it up at six at the first quarter media timeout. Out of the timeout, the Bobcats used a scoring run of their own to take a 13-11 lead into the second quarter.
Sacred Heart went up 14-13 early in the second quarter, but the Bobcats took over. Quinnipiac responded with a 17-3 run to close out the second quarter and take a 30-17 lead into the halftime break.
The Pioneers got on the board first in the second half, but Quinnipiac's lead grew to 16 (37-21) at the media timeout. Out of the break, Sacred Heart outscored the Bobcats 9-6, but QU still held a thirteen-point advantage at the end of three frames.
Sacred Heart stormed out in the final quarter and cut the deficit down to nine as the Bobcats called a timeout halfway through the quarter. From that point on, it was all Bobcats, as Quinnipiac closed out the game on a 9-2 run to earn the 55-39 win over the Pioneers.
