HAMDEN, Conn. – No. 6 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey returns home this weekend for a home-and-home series against Providence. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. on Friday at M&T Bank Arena before the series shifts to Providence, R.I. for a 3 p.m. matchup on Saturday.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
- The Friars enter the weekend with a 2-0 record after sweeping Sacred Heart in a season-opening home-and-home series.
- QU swept last season's series against Providence, outscoring the Friars 10-2. Peyton Cormier and Aynsley D'Ottavio each scored their first collegiate goals, while Alex Law recorded the first hat trick of her career.
- Providence finished the 2025-26 campaign with an 11-22-2 overall record and 8-14-2 in Hockey East play.
- Audrey Knapp returns after posting 23 points last season and opened the year with back-to-back multi-point performances. The senior leads the team with four points.
- First-year Grace van Volsen leads the Friars with three goals after recording her first collegiate goal and first multi-goal game against Sacred Heart.
- Mallory Hartl and Bianca Birrittieri have split time in net, combining for a 2-0-0 record, 40 saves and one shutout through the opening weekend.
- The Bobcats opened the season with a two-game sweep at Maine, earning their first sweep of the year and 12th straight win over the Black Bears.
- Ella Johnson scored Quinnipiac's first goal of the season on the team's first power play opportunity of the year.
- Alex Law found the back of the net in both games, including the game-winning goal in the season opener.
- First-year Rosalie Breton netted her first collegiate goal, while Aynsley D'Ottavio and Kahlen Lamarche each scored their first goals of the season.
- Casey Clausen earned both wins in her collegiate debut, stopping 57 of 59 shots across the two games.
- Clausen was named ECAC Goaltender of the Week on Sept. 29 after posting a .966 save percentage and 1.00 goals-against average during opening weekend.
- The Bobcats have been ranked No. 5/6 nationally in each of the latest national polls and in the preseason (USCHO & USA Hockey).
- Cass Turner's squad has been selected as the favorite in the preseason coaches' poll for the first time in a decade.
- The Bobcats received 112 points in the preseason poll with six first-place votes, following the program's second ECAC Championship title last season.
- Senior assistant captain Kahlen Lamarche and junior goaltender Felicia Frank were both named to the ECAC Hockey Preseason All-League Team.
- The Bobcats advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023, earning a 4-0 shutout victory over Franklin Pierce before falling to No. 1 Wisconsin in the Regional Final.
- Quinnipiac finished the season with 29 wins and captured its first ECAC Hockey Championship since 2016, defeating top-seeded Yale 5-1 in the title game.
- The tournament was also historic, marking the first time the women's championship was played at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid.
- Goaltender Felicia Frank was named the ECAC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player after stopping 61 shots and allowing just two goals. Frank was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Avery Bairos, Makayla Watson, and Zoe Uens.
- Bairos played a key role in QU's postseason run, scoring twice, including the overtime game-winner against No. 2 Princeton. The goals were the third and fourth of her collegiate career.
- Kahlen Lamarche and Felicia Frank earned All-ECAC First Team honors, while Watson was named to the All-ECAC Second Team.
THE KAHLEN EFFECT
- Kahlen Lamarche became the first Bobcat in program history to be named a top-10 finalist for the 2026 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award.
- Lamarche earned ACHA Second Team All-American, All-USCHO Second Team and All-ECAC Hockey First Team honors following her record-setting season.
- The forward tallied 42 goals and 22 assists for 64 points in 2025-26, leading the NCAA in goals and ranking third nationally in points.
- Lamarche broke two of Quinnipiac's Division I single-season records, setting new program marks for goals and points. Both records had previously been held by Kelly Babstock '14 for 15 years.
- QU returns 68% of its scoring from a season ago, with the rising junior class accounting for nearly half of that production.
- Last season's NCAA goal-scoring leader, Kahlen Lamarche, returns for her senior year in Hamden after three-straight 30+ point seasons.
- Junior defenders Aynsley D'Ottavio and Makayla Watson return to the Bobcats' blueline after tallying 28 and 26 points, respectively, last season.
- Ella Johnson, Bryn Prier, Ella Sennick, Taylor Brueske and Peyton Cormier also return after each recorded double-digit points in 2025-26.
- The Bobcats welcome nine newcomers this season, including six first-year players and three transfers.
- Ellie Gauvin joins QU after spending four seasons on the blueline at Brown, where she appeared in 64 games and recorded 12 points.
- Senior Keara Parker and junior Ilsa Lindaman join the Bobcats after transferring from St. Thomas.
- Parker played in 105 games for the Tommies, tallying 24 points, while Lindaman recorded 21 points across 63 career games.
- The first year class features three forwards, two defenders, and one goalie.
- QU adds three Americans in Cassidy Lobisser (Massachusetts), Natalia Dilbone (Michigan), and Annika Stock (Alaska).
- The class also features three international students, Annabell Kruzich from Ottawa, Canada, Rosalie Breton and Clara-Mai Van Houtte-Cachero from Québec, Canada.
