FIRST IS THE... BEST
- Starting fast has been a recipe for success for the Bobcats in the last two seasons, as scoring the first goal has usually meant a win in the end. Entering the weekend, they are 31-1-1 when scoring the opening tally since the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.
- The lone blemishes have come this year, when they tied Alaska and fell to Yale.
THREE'S THE MAGIC NUMBER
- The Bobcat offense has consistently provided winning ways throughout the first half, scoring three-plus goals in 18 contests and not losing any of those games, going 17-0-1.
- Of the 10 unbeaten teams when they score three or more, Michigan is the only team without a blemish, going 19-0. Union is the only team along with the Bobcats with a singular tie, while Miami has tied twice and Augustana has tied three times.
NUTMEG STATE SUPREMACY
- The sixth edition of CT Ice kicks off on Friday night on the campus of Yale University, with Quinnipiac playing Sacred Heart in a rematch of the 2020 CT Ice title game in which the Pioneers won 4-1.
- Quinnipiac then ripped off three consecutive titles, winning in 2022, 2023 and 2024, taking home the titles in Bridgeport, Hamden and Hartford.
- UConn took home the title a season ago, defeating the Bobcats' in a thrilling semifinal before taking down hosts Sacred Heart to take the trophy back to Storrs.
HOBEY HOPEFUL
- First year forward Ethan Wyttenbach was tabbed as a 2026 Hobey Baker Award nominee, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon.
- The Roslyn, N.Y., native is first amongst all first-years in the country in points with 33 and tied for third amongst all skaters in that category. He has also recorded a point in 21 games this season, the most of any skater in the country.
- He went on a nine-game point streak from Nov. 4 to Dec. 5, the second-longest streak of anybody in the nation and also put together a seven-game stretch to begin his collegiate career.
'CATS ARE HOT
- Since Nov. 8, Quinnipiac has been red-hot going 13-1-0 over that span. They are the only team with fewer than two losses since then and also lead the country in goals (67), goals per game (4.8), scoring margin (+35) and are second in faceoff percentage (56.4%) since then.
