HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's soccer team returns to the field on Thursday, August 21st, as they travel to Long Island to take on the Stony Brook Seawolves. Kickoff from LaValle Stadium is slated for 4 PM and can be seen on FloCollege.
SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES
- Stony Brook enters Thursday's matchup with a 0-2 record to begin the 2025 season.
- The Seawolves began their season on August 14th and lost to UMass Lowell 4-2 at home. Stony Brook followed up with a road contest at UConn and fell to the Huskies 1-0.
- Early into the season, Linn Beck and Reilly Rich led the team with one goal apiece. Jona Hennings has started both games in goal for Stony Brook and has recorded six saves and allowed five goals.
- Stony Brook was selected to finish 1st in the North Division in the CAA Preseason Poll. The Seawolves earned eight first-place votes and 63 total points, finishing seven points ahead of Monmouth, who were picked to finish second.
- Last season, the Seawolves defeated Monmouth 2-1 in the CAA Championship to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
- Stony Brook dropped their NCAA Tournament opener to No. 22 Penn State by a final score of 8-1.
HISTORY AGAINST STONY BROOK
- Thursday's matchup marks the fourth matchup between the Bobcats and Seawolves in QU's Division I history.
- Quinnipiac leads the all-time series, 3-0.
- The last matchup between the two programs ended in a 2-1 win for the Bobcats in Hamden (August 25, 2022).
- After conceding the game's opening goal, two second-half tallies from Rebecca Cooke powered the Bobcats past the Seawolves at home.
LAST TIME OUT
- Quinnipiac dropped its season opener to the Hofstra Pride, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon on Long Island.
- Gwen Hoyt started in goal for the Bobcats and recorded two saves in 79 minutes of action.
- The Bobcats were outshot by the Pride, 13-6 and 7-3 in shots on goal.
PRESEASON HONORS
- The Quinnipiac women's soccer team was selected second in the MAAC Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, August 6th.
- The Bobcats received 158 total points with two first-place votes. Quinnipiac finished eight points behind the Preseason favorites, Fairfield, and finished 25 points ahead of Siena, who was picked to finish third.
- Madison Alves was Quinnipiac's lone member of the Preseason All-MAAC Team.
'24 SEASON RECAP
- The Bobcats went 14-5-1 (10-2-0 MAAC) last season and earned the #2 seed for the 2024 MAAC Championships.
- Quinnipiac defeated the Iona Gaels 1-0 in the MAAC Quarterfinals before defeating the Canisius Golden Griffins 3-1 in the Semifinals to punch their fourth straight MAAC Championship appearance.
- The Bobcats' season came to an end in the MAAC Title Game as they fell to the Fairfield Stags 1-0.
HOME COOKING
- Quinnipiac posted an 8-0-1 record on their home turf during last year's regular season, including a streak of seven straight clean sheets.
- The Bobcats outscored their opponents 22-2 on their home turf in the regular season.
- QU won their two postseason contests in Hamden last year, outscoring their opponents 4-1.
KEEPING IT CLEAN
- The Bobcats had a stretch of ten straight clean sheets last season, spanning from September 1st to October 16th.

HEAD COACH DAVE CLARKE
- Head Coach Dave Clarke enters his 27th season with the Bobcats in 2025. Clarke is 245-203-47 over his career as a collegiate head coach (2 seasons at New Haven before QU).
- Clarke has firmly cemented himself as one of the premier college coaches in the NCAA's highest division. He effectively etched his signature on Quinnipiac soccer by becoming not only the winningest coach in its history but also leading his team to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2000 and a regular-season championship in 2001.
- The Bobcats then won their second consecutive MAAC Championship in 2023, marking their second MAAC Title in program history.
WHO'S BACK?
- The Bobcats return six of their top ten-point scorers from last season, highlighted by Madison Alves and Klara Bengtsson, who both finished the season with 10 points.
- Alves is the lone returner who started all 20 games last season.
- The Bobcats will have three goalkeepers who combined for three appearances last season. Gwen Hoyt started two contests and finished with a 1-0-0 record and recorded one save.
NEW FACES IN HAMDEN
- The Bobcats welcome ten newcomers to Hamden before the start of the 2025 season.
- Addyson Earl is the lone transfer into the women's soccer program, coming in after one season at UNC Charlotte.
- Quinnipiac will have nine first years on the roster this season, Audrey Lefebvre (Repentigny, Quebec, Canada), Stella Tosoni (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia), Alessandra Page (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), Marta Ankarcrona (Stockholm, Sweden), Marina Mahon (West Chester, Pennsylvania), Corey Anderson (Glastonbury, Connecticut), Sydney McInnis (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada), Isabella Torelli (King City, Ontario, Canada), and Ava Young (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada).
THE '25 SCHEDULE
- The Bobcats will play 16 regular-season games in total – hosting seven contests at the Quinnipiac Soccer Stadium in Hamden. The Bobcats hosted two exhibition contests this preseason, welcoming both St. John's and Maine.
- Quinnipiac's slate features four non-conference matchups, with three on the road (Hofstra, Stony Brook, and LIU) and one in Hamden (Syracuse).
- QU kicks off MAAC play on September 6th as they host the Rider Broncs with a 12 PM kickoff.
- The Bobcats will have a 2024 MAAC Championship Rematch with the Fairfield Stags on September 24th in Hamden.
- QU will honor its seniors in a pre-game ceremony before the October 4th match against the Saint Peter's Peacocks.
- Quinnipiac will wrap up their home schedule with the Manhattan Jaspers on October 29th.
