Velek Wins Second Straight MAAC Player of the Week Award

EDISON, NJ – Graduate student Daniel Velek was named MAAC Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, his second consecutive nod for the award.
Velek went 2-0 for QU over the weekend, helping propel them to a 5-2 win over Siena. Velek first teamed up James Lorenzetti and won their No. 2 singles match over Siena's Breen and Varella 6-2. He then won his No. 1 singles match over Martinez 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.
The defending MAAC Player of the Year moved to 3-2 in MAAC play this season and 3-1 at No. 2 doubles with James Lorenzetti while helping the Bobcats to a 5-0 conference start.
Velek and the Bobcats are back in court this Saturday at 1:30 PM, hosting Mount St. Mary's in Hamden, Conn.
