QU Improves to 2-0 in Conference Play
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 76-67 win over the Marist Red Foxes on Sunday evening in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Sydney Ryan led the Bobcats in scoring with 19 points on 55.6% (5-9) shooting from the field and knocked down four threes in seven attempts. Ella O'Donnell added 16 points on 66.7% (6-9) shooting from the floor. O'Donnell grabbed five rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists. Jackie Grisdale scored 14 points in the win and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Ella Ryan reached double figures, scoring 11 points and grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.

Ella O'Donnell got the Bobcats on the board first, and Sydney Ryan followed up with a three before the Red Foxes scored their first bucket of the game. After Marist knocked down a three to make it 5-3 Bobcats, Quinnipiac responded with a 20-0 scoring run to blow the game open. Marist responded with an 8-0 run to cut into the deficit, but the Bobcats led 25-11 after the opening quarter.
The Bobcats and Red Foxes traded points to start the second quarter, but Quinnipiac's lead increased to 16 at the media timeout. Quinnipiac would maintain their double-digit lead as they headed into the locker room at the break with a 41-26 lead.
Quinnipiac and Marist traded buckets again to start the third quarter, with Marist taking the slight scoring lead, 12-10, in the frame at the media timeout. Out of the break, the Red Foxes outscored the Bobcats 6-5, but Quinnipiac still led 58-46 at the end of thirty minutes.
Marist kept pushing for a comeback, but every shot they made, the Bobcats responded with one of their own, and Quinnipiac held on for the 76-67 win to improve to 2-0 in MAAC play.
