Foley Leads Bobcats to Big Win in MAAC Opener

Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team opened conference play with a 78-39 win over the Manhattan Jaspers on Friday morning in Hamden on Kids Day.
Anna Foley led the Bobcats with 18 points on 70% (7-for-10) shooting from the floor in the MAAC opener against Manhattan. Foley also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, dished out four assists, recorded three blocks, and one steal in the win. Jackie Grisdale also reached double figures, scoring 12 points in the effort.

Jackie Grisdale got the Bobcats on the board first in the MAAC opener, but the Jaspers bounced back and led 13-10 at the first media timeout. Out of the break, the Bobcats bounced back with a 12-0 scoring run to take a 22-13 lead after the opening quarter.
The Bobcats opened the second quarter and continued their scoring run, scoring twelve of the first fifteen points in the second frame, to go up 34-16. After the media timeout, the Bobcats were able to extend their lead to 20, leading 41-21 at halftime.
The third quarter was low scoring for both teams, but Quinnipiac continued to control play and pushed their lead to 26 as they entered the final quarter.
Quinnipiac continued to dominate the Jaspers in the final frame, outscoring them 22-9 in the final ten minutes to close out the MAAC opener with a 39-point victory, their largest margin of victory this season.
