HAMDEN, Conn. — The No. 10 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program begins its 2025-26 home slate on Friday night as they welcome No. 7 Maine for a Bobcat Weekend series at M&T Bank Arena.
The Bobcats started the year 2-1 with wins over Boston College and Notre Dame, while Maine swept Holy Cross to begin its campaign.
WYTTER, WYTTER, CHICKEN DINNER
- First-year Ethan Wyttenbach is off to a hot start to the 2025-26 campaign, recording points in all three contests. He's scored two goals and two assists and is tied for seventh amongst freshmen in the country.
- He assisted on the go-ahead goal against Boston College in the season opener before scoring in both games at the Ice Breaker over the weekend at Arizona State.
- He's part of a freshman class that has totaled 13 of Quinnipiac's 31 points, the most on the team.
SEVENTH HEAVEN
- Quinnipiac poured in seven goals against Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon, rebounding from a one-goal effort the previous night against a stingy Alaska defense.
- It is the first time this season they have eclipsed the number, joining five other teams that have hit the mark this season.
- Over the last five years, the Bobcats have totaled seven or more goals in 16 games, the third-most in the country behind Boston University and Michigan during that span.
BREAKING THE ICE (AGAIN)
- Quinnipiac went back to its second IceBreaker Tournament this past weekend, taking on Alaska Fairbanks and then Notre Dame at Mullett Arena, home of the Sun Devils.
- The Bobcats played in the 2021 version of the tournament, held at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., tying Boston College before dropping the shootout in the semifinal contest. They shut out Northeastern to earn a split on the weekend.
- The annual Ice Breaker Tournament marks the traditional start to the college hockey season. Celebrating its 29th year in 2025-26, the Ice Breaker brings together four of the nation's top teams, typically from different conferences.
FIRST-YEAR PHENOMS
- Matthew Lansing and Graham Sward made massive first impressions in a Bobcat uniform, scoring goals in their debuts to aid the Bobcats to the 4-3 win at No. 6 Boston College.
- Along with those two, classmates Markus Vidicek, Antonin Verreault and Ethan Wyttenbach added assists as part of nine different Bobcats to record a point on the night.
CAPTAIN CZERNECKIANAIR
- Playing hockey in his home state. Southington native Victor Czerneckianair is the captain for the 2025-26 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program, head coach Rand Pecknold announced in August.
- One of three holdovers from the 2023 National Championship team, the center has played in seven NCAA Tournament games, scoring twice in QU's 2024 Regional Semifinal game with Wisconsin, adding the overtime game winner.
