ANNAPOLIS, Md – Quinnipiac women's rugby readies for another road battle at Navy on Saturday, Oct. 11 to continue the 2025 schedule. Game time is set for 11:00 AM, and the contest will be streamed live on YouTube.com/NavyAthletics.

LAST TIME OUT: BOBCATS TOP LA SALLE IN HAMDEN (10/4)

Quinnipiac women's rugby won its third matchup of the fall 2025 campaign on Saturday, Oct. 4 in Hamden, as the Bobcats cruised past La Salle by the final score of 53-0.
Regan Jackson and Gabrielle Appiah each scored twice for the Bobcats in the win, while McKenzie Kroeger, Layla Cox, Anna Wright, Rebecca Balladares and Ava deCooper Wride all found the try zone once.
Gabrielle Appiah was named QU's Impact Player on Attack following the win. She recorded 61 meters made and beat 6 defenders via 9 carries.
Anna Wright recorded four total tackles to help anchor the defensive unit. She completed 100% of tackle attempts in the win.

SCOUTING NAVY

Navy enters at 3-2, most recently defeating LIU and Princeton.
The Bobcats are 3-1 vs. Navy dating back to 2013. QU has taken each of the last three matchups, including the 2024 meeting in Annapolis.
Layla Cox found the try zone twice during QU's win at Navy last season.

NEW PROGRAM RECORD

Alexa Kirschner recorded 22 solo tackles in Quinnipiac's contest vs. Lindenwood on Sept. 19 setting a new single-game team record. She completed 92 percent of her tackles during the battle against Lindenwood.

LAST YEAR (2024)

Quinnipiac most recently wrapped up the 2024 regular season with a 4-3-2 overall record (2-3-2 NIRA).
The Bobcats defeated Navy, Penn State, Princeton and AIC in four consecutive games (Sept. 21 – Oct. 12).
Anna Wright led the Bobcats with 79 tackles a season ago, while Layla Cox ranked second with 61 tackles.
Layla Cox also led the Bobcats with 10.41 meters/carry, and she found the try zone 10 times during 2024. Fellow returner Lucy Lamborn found the try zone five different times last year.

THE 2025 SCHEDULE

This year, the Bobcats' eight-game slate features four home events at the QU Rugby Field in Hamden. Quinnipiac will open up the season at Dartmouth – who made an appearance in the NIRA title game last fall – on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Quinnipiac will then return to Hamden for a Sept. 6 home opener against Brown, followed by a road trip to LIU on Sept. 13.
QU then readies for two consecutive home matchups against Lindenwood (Sept. 19) and LaSalle (Oct. 4), before traveling to Navy for a road contest (Oct. 11).
The final home game of the regular season will take place in Hamden on Oct. 18 vs. in-state foe Sacred Heart, then Quinnipiac concludes the regular season schedule vs. Queens (game will take place at Navy) on Oct. 25.

HEAD COACH BECKY CARLSON

Carlson enters her 15th year at the helm of the Quinnipiac Women's Rugby team in 2025-26, leading the transition from a new varsity program into a three-time national champion. Carlson has been a key advocate for women's NCAA rugby and equality in athletics for over a decade.
As the original head coach of the Quinnipiac women's rugby team added in 2011, Becky Carlson is up to 97 career victories with the Bobcats – including back-to-back-to-back Division I NIRA national championship titles in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
