HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's soccer team is set to host Columbia tomorrow afternoon to start a six-game homestand in Hamden. The game will kickoff at 4:00 PM and will be streamed on gobobcats.com.

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's soccer team is set to host Columbia tomorrow afternoon to start a six-game homestand in Hamden. The game will kickoff at 4:00 PM and will be streamed on gobobcats.com.
THE MATCHUP: vs. Columbia
- Columbia has not played yet this season and were 2-8-4 a season ago.
- The Lions are led by Michael Casper in his 2nd season.
- Columbia returns its leading scorer from last season, Joao Lima, who had four goals.
- The Bobcats are 3-2-1 versus the Lions since 2004. Columbia won the last matchup 2-0, last season in New York, N.Y.
- The Bobcats fell at URI 1-0, on Monday night.
- QU outshot URI 15-4 and generated 10 corners.
- Filip Kangeman had two shots on goal.
- The Bobcats fell 2-0 in their season opener at Providence College on Thursday, Aug. 22.
- Karl Netzell made four saves.
- Sivert Ryssdalsnes tallied a shot on goal.
- After finishing ninth a season ago, the Bobcats were picked to finish sixth in the conference in the Coaches' preseason poll.
- The Bobcats have announced their 2024 captains, Terrance Wilder Jr., Karl Netzell, and Noe Cabezas.
- Wilder Jr. enters his fifth season as a Bobcat on the backline after leading the Bobcats in minutes a season ago.
- Netzell, a MAAC All-Second Team selection in 2022, returns for his third season as a Bobcat.
- Cabezas returns for his second season as a Bobcat after transferring in a season ago. He started in 15 games, tallying one assist.
- QU welcomes nine newcomers in its recruiting class this season, which includes seven international players.
- Sivert Ryssdalsnes, William Holum, and Fredrik Moen join the Bobcats from Norway while Fynn Ost and Benjamin Telle are from Germany.
- Joey Saputo Jr., a transfer from UConn, is from Canada and Pol Mesalles is from Spain.
- The Bobcats have also two Connecticut players, with Juan Hernandez and Drew Monteserin.
- Head Coach Eric Da Costa enters his 20th season with the Bobcats in 2023. Da Costa is 148-135-60 during his time at QU.
- Da Costa has built a strong reputation for success at QU, leading the Bobcats to the postseason conference tournament in 10 of the last 12 seasons (2012 in the NEC, 2013-2022).
- The Bobcats have reached the MAAC title game five times under Da Costa, reaching the NCAA Tournament twice. He was also named the 2022 MAAC Coach of the Year for his outstanding leadership.
- Quinnipiac's fall 2024 schedule features 16 regular season contests, with eight non-league games.
- The Bobcats are set to host 10 games in Hamden this season, including a stretch of six in a row starting with the home opener against Columbia (Aug. 30) and ending against FDU (Sep. 26).
- They open MAAC play on Oct. 5, traveling to Fairfield, Conn. to face MAAC newcomer Sacred Heart.
