QU Ends Regular Season With Win Over Marist

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team ended the regular season on a high note, defeating the Marist Red Foxes, 51-42, on Saturday afternoon in Hamden. Karson Martin led the Bobcats with 11 points and 12 rebounds for her first collegiate double double.
With the win, the Bobcats will end the regular season with a 12-17 overall record and a 9-11 conference record, while Marist ends the regular season 6-24 overall and 4-16 in the MAAC. Quinnipiac will be the seven seed and Marist is the eleven seed at the MAAC Tournament down in Atlantic City.
Marist started the scoring a little over a minute into the contest before Grace LaBarge knocked down a three to give Quinnipiac an early 4-2 lead.
Out of the timeout, Marist took a one-point lead and established a 14-10 lead at the end of the first half.
Marist opened the second quarter on fire and were able to build a nine-point lead to force Quinnipiac to use a timeout. Out of the timeout, Quinnipiac went on a 10-0 run to end the quarter with a one-point lead. Ella O'Donnell scored the final four points of the quarter, her first points back from injury.
The Bobcats came out of the locker room at the half and improved on their lead. Ava Sollenne knocked down a three to give the Bobcats a seven-point lead.
Marist started to come back into the contest, making it just a four-point game. Karson Martin grabbed a rebound and beat the buzzer to give Quinnipiac a 38-32 lead heading into the final quarter.
Quinnipiac's lead grew to eleven as Karson Martin got a driving layup to fall early in the fourth quarter.
Quinnipiac continued to put the pressure on the Red Foxes as they were able to end the regular season with a 51-42 win over Marist.
