Foley Records A Double-Double As Bobcats Defeat Gaels

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Anna Foley led the Bobcats with 27 points in their 72-68 win over the Iona Gaels on Thursday night. Foley shot 63.2% from the floor and racked up 11 rebounds for a double-double.
With the win, the Bobcats will improve to 11-17 on the season and 8-11 in the MAAC, while Iona will fall to 11-17 overall and 6-13 in conference play. With the win, the Bobcats secured the season series against the Gaels.
The two sides traded points to kick off the game before the Bobcats slowly pulled away. Anna Foley knocked down a jumper to give Quinnipiac a five-point lead.
Iona was able to tie the game at ten at the first quarter media timeout. The Bobcats offense stayed hot as they established a six-point lead as Karson Martin got one to fall.
After the two teams each scored a bucket at the end of the quarter, the Bobcats held a six-point advantage after the first quarter.
Iona started the scoring in the second quarter, but it was Quinnipiac who took control. The Bobcats were able to take a 10-point lead into the media timeout. Out of the break, Quinnipiac was able to make it an eleven-point game going into halftime.
Iona outscored the Bobcats 19-10 in the third quarter to bring themselves within two heading into the final frame.
Ava Sollenne knocked down a huge three to give the Bobcats a three-point lead before Iona took a timeout.
Quinnipiac was able to grow their lead to seven before the Gaels crept back into the ballgame. With the Bobcats holding onto a three-point lead with 57 seconds left, Grace LaBarge came up clutch with a three to make it a six-point advantage.
The Gaels didn't go away quietly after Quinnipiac hit their free-throws down the stretch, as the Gaels were able to get a three to make it a two-point game with 11 seconds to play. Quinnpiac continued to hit their free-throws as they held on for a 72-66 win.
