No. 7 Bobcats Off to Lake Placid with Quarterfinal Sweep of RPI

HAMDEN, Conn. — The top-seeded Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program is headed back to Lake Placid and the ECAC's Championship Weekend, knocking off RPI 5-2 and clinching a sweep in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2024 ECAC Men's Hockey Playoffs.
Andon Cerbone continued his hot weekend, scoring the game's opener and game-winner to finish his quarterfinal weekend with five points.
A flurry of goals came in the second, as four goals were scored in 2:57 at the end of the frame, with the first two from the hosts and second two from RPI.
Cerbone's goal at 9:13 of the third proved to be the difference, and he passed off a chance at the hat trick to get Jacob Quillan his first of the night on his bobblehead night to extend the lead.
Collin Graf finished off an assist from Quillan at 19:52 to finish the scoring.
STATS AND NOTES
The Bobcats will take on seventh-seeded St. Lawrence in the semifinal round on Friday at the 1980 Rink. Puck drop is slated for 4 p.m., and can be seen live on ESPN+.

- Mason Marcellus recorded his second consecutive, three-assist night, adding helpers on the first, third and fourth goals.
- Cerbone finished the weekend with three goals and two assists, good for a five-point weekend.
- The Bobcats are now 48-5-2 at The Bank since the start of the 2021-22 campaign and finished the season without a regulation loss in Hamden, a 16-3-0 clip.
- Graf now has points in 11 of his last 12 contests, totaling 17 in that span.
- Quillan has points in nine of his last 11 with 18 over that stretch. He has six, multi-point games over his last 11 as well.
- Quinnipiac qualified for its fourth consecutive Championship Weekend with the victory.
