QU Defeats Saint Peter's On The Road

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Anna Foley and Karson Martin led the Bobcats with 10 points each in their 46-40 win over the Peacocks of Saint Peter's University on Thursday night.
With the win, the Bobcats will improve to 10-11 on the season and 7-5 in the MAAC, while Saint Peter's will fall to 5-16 overall and 2-10 in conference play. This is Quinnipiac's 21st straight victory over the Peacocks.
Quinnipiac and Saint Peter's started off the contest trading field goals, but it was Saint Peter's who took a 7-5 lead into the first media timeout. After the Peacocks hit two free-throws, Paige Girardi hit a three to make it a one-point game. Reiven Douglas got a jumper to fall to give the Bobcats the 10-9 lead after the first ten minutes.
The Peacocks took the lead back early in the second quarter and Karson Martin made it a one-point game at the media timeout. Right out of the break, Bri Bowen got a tough shot to fall to give the Bobcats the lead.
Saint Peter's cushioned their lead, but the Bobcats hit free throws down the stretch to even the game at 17 at the halftime break.
Anna Foley opened the half scoring the Bobcats' first four points to give Quinnipiac a four-point lead to cause Saint Peter's to call a timeout.
The two sides continued to battle back and forth, and Anna Foley put an exclamation point on the quarter with a block on one end and a field goal on the other.
Quinnipiac had a five-point lead at the end of the third quarter and pushed it to seven early in the final quarter. Quinnipiac improved on their lead, making it as high as 12 with 1:18 to play. Saint Peter's got a couple of shots to fall, but Quinnipiac prevailed with the 46-40 win.
