Bobcats Improve to 10-1 in MAAC

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball won its ninth consecutive contest on Sunday afternoon at M&T Bank Arena, topping Canisius by the final score of 88-63 in a wire-to-wire victory.

Matt Balanc led all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting. Amarri Tice added 18 points and nine rebounds, and Doug Young chipped in with 10 points off the bench.

QU shot 33-of-67 (49.3%) in total, going 17-for-34 in the second half.

The Bobcats closed the first half on a 9-0 run, then opened the second half on another 8-0 stint. QU led 56-28 following the 17-0 total run (18:41 left in second half).

The first-place Bobcats improve to 18-4 so far in 2023-24. Quinnipiac is now 10-1 in MAAC play, three games ahead of any other MAAC program in the standings.

Quinnipiac (18-4 oveall) is off to its best start since the 1965-66 season (21-4 start in '65-66).
The Bobcats (10-1 MAAC) now have a three-game lead over Saint Peter's, Fairfield and Niagara (all 7-4).
QU is 10-1 on its home floor, outscoring opponents 914-768 at M&T Bank Arena.
QU outscored Canisius 48-28 in the first half, then held a 40-35 advantage in the second half.

Matt Balanc registered 23 points to lead the way for QU, going 3-for-5 from distance. The graduate guard is up to 18.7 PPG in 2023-24, registering 10 games of 20+ points.
Savion Lewis recorded another seven assists to go along with eight points and four rebounds. Lewis ranks second nationally in helpers per game (7.5 APG).

Doug Young added 10 points off the bench in 8 minutes.
Paul Otieno recorded six points and six assists.
Arion Lewis scored a season-high eight points off the bench.
Alexis Reyes chipped in with five points, and JJ Riggins tallied four points.
Richie Springs recorded three points and two rebounds, and Rihards Vavers went 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Nicholas Margetson knocked down a free throw at the end of the contest.
Daemar Kelly grabbed a pair of rebounds.
