QU Downs Rider in Saturday Matinee

HAMDEN, Conn. – Anna Foley recorded another double double (18 points and 10 rebounds) as the Bobcats defeated the Rider Broncs 65-54 on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Bobcats will improve to 9-11 on the season and 6-5 in the MAAC, while Rider will fall to 5-15 overall and 2-9 in conference play. This is Quinnipiac's sixth straight victory over the Broncs.
The two sides began the game trading baskets before Grace LaBarge gave the Bobcats a four-point advantage just before the media timeout.
Rider kept the game close until the end of the quarter when Anna Foley knocked down a shot just before the buzzer sounded to end the first quarter with the Bobcats up by five.
Quinnipiac came out in the second quarter and were able to establish a seven-point lead. After trading baskets, Reiven Douglas knocked down a three to make it a ten-point ballgame.
Rider crept back in once again as they brought the lead down to six at the end of the first half.
Quinnipiac came out of the half on fire as Grace LaBarge knocked down a triple to make it an eleven-point lead and force Rider to take a timeout.
Rider got as close as nine, before the Bobcats stretched the lead up to twelve at the media timeout.
The Bobcats let the Broncs back in the game out of the break before Paige Girardi knocked down a three in the final seconds of the third quarter.
The Broncs got as close as six in the final quarter, but the Bobcats shut down any attempt at a comeback as they defeated the Broncs 65-54.

- Paige Girardi came off the bench and scored 10 points of 4 for 7 (57.1%) shooting.
- Ava Sollenne was 2 for 3 from behind the arc as she racked up eight points in the win.
- Reiven Douglas got some action as she was 2 for 3 from the floor and picked up five points in six minutes.
- Quinnipiac had the lead for 39:16, while Rider never had the lead.
