Foley Scores 24, Bobcats Fall To Canisius On Senior Day

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team fell to the Canisius Golden Griffins by a score of 69-53 on Saturday afternoon in Hamden. Anna Foley led the Bobcats with 24 points on 52.6% (10-for-19) and ten rebounds.
With the loss, the Bobcats will fall to 10-16 on the season and 7-10 in the MAAC, while Canisius will improve to 14-11 overall and 9-7 in conference play. With the win, Canisius won the season series, 2-0.
Canisius struck first off a three-pointer before Karson Martin struck right back with a three of her own. The Golden Griffins went on an 8-0 run to make it a 11-3 game at the media timeout.
Out of the timeout, Anna Foley brought the Bobcats within six with a jumper of her own.
Free throws from Grace LaBarge brought Quinnipiac within four, just moments before Canisius extended the lead back to six to end the first quarter.
Canisius came out firing in the second quarter, extending their lead to twelve to force Quinnipiac to use a timeout. Out of the break, it was all Canisius as they made it a 16-point ballgame at the half.
LaBarge kicked off the second half with a layup before Canisius went on a run to make it a 17-point game at the media timeout.
Canisius kept their foot on the pedal as they took a 53-34 lead into the final quarter.
To start the final quarter, Quinnipiac was able to put together a 9-2 run to make it a thirteen-point game. Anna Foley scored seven of the first nine points in the quarter.
Canisius put any chance of a Quinnipiac comeback to bed as they continued to hit their shots down the stretch and take the 69-53 win.
