Otieno's Double-Double Leads QU to First Win in 2024-25
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball earned a win in its home opener on Thursday night, 71-47, at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden.
Paul Otieno powered the Bobcats to their first victory of the season with a double-double, as QU's big man poured in 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds (6-9 FG). Amarri Monroe chipped in with 13 points, while Savion Lewis stuffed the stat sheet with 3 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists.
First-Year Jaden Zimmerman added 13 points off the bench, while Khaden Bennett scored 10 points in the QU victory.
Quinnipiac outscored WPI 36-16 in the paint. The Bobcats led for 35:25 in total.

NOTES
- Paul Otieno led Quinnipiac in points (14) and rebounds (10) in 26 minutes. Otieno has 18 rebounds over the Bobcats' first two games. He now has five double-doubles over the past two years.
- Amarri Monroe scored 13 points to go along with five rebounds. He's averaging 18.0 PPG through two contests.
- Jaden Zimmerman impressed with 13 points in 18 minutes off the bench. He shot 5-of-8 from the field and knocked down a pair of triples.
- Khaden Bennett reached 10 points for the first time in his career with the Bobcats, going 4-of-8 in 15 minutes off the bench. He also grabbed four rebounds.
- Ryan Mabrey tallied eight points, going 2-of-3 from 3-point distance.
- Savion Lewis stuffed the stat sheet with 3 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. His 10 rebounds match a career high (11/12/21 vs. Western New England).
- QU shot 25-for-63 during the contest, and the Bobcats outrebounded WPI 48-32.
- Quinnipiac scored 22 straight points in the second half of play. The Bobcats' run ended with 5:35 left in the game when Jaden Zimmerman sunk a 3-pointer.
- QU is 14-3 at home over the last two seasons under Head Coach Tom Pecora.
