Bobcats Sweep Niagara to Close Out Weekend

NIAGARA FALLS, NY. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team ended their weekend with a clean sweep of the Niagara Purple Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats did not lose a single set on their road trip to Buffalo and Niagara and have not lost a set in three straight matches.

SET ONE (25-11, Quinnipiac)
The Bobcats held an 8-5 lead over Niagara before going on a 5-0 run to force the Purple Eagles to use their first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, Quinnipiac used an 8-6 run to take a 21-11 advantage.
After Niagara used their final timeout of the set, Quinnipiac closed out the set with a 4-0 run to earn a 25-11 set one victory. Leilani-kai Giusta recorded two kills in the final four points of the set.
SET TWO (25-21)
The Bobcats and Purple Eagles traded points to begin the second set, but Quinnipiac took a two-point lead, 15-13, as they approached the media timeout.
The back-and-forth set continued, but the Bobcats held a 23-20 lead as Niagara called a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Bobcats scored two of the next three points to win the second set 25-21.
SET THREE (25-15)
Quinnipiac started the third set on a 9-3 run thanks to four kills from Elena Giacomini as Niagara used their first timeout of the set.
Out of the timeout, the Bobcats continued to dominate, closing out the third set on a 16-12 run to secure the match win over Niagara.

- Elena Giacomini recorded her ten double-double of the season as she recorded 14 kills and 10 digs.
- Yagmur Gunes recorded 14 digs and 13 kills as she picked up her sixth double-double of the 2024 season.
- Leilani-kai Giusta and Elena Giacomini tied for the team lead with 14 kills each.
- Seven different Bobcats recorded at least one kill in the win.
- Yagmur Gunes picked up five aces from the service line to lead the team.
- Damla Gunes recorded 27 assists in the effort.
- The Bobcats combined for 47 kills compared to 25 kills from the Purple Eagles.
- Quinnipiac dominated the service line with seven aces in the win against Niagara.
