Volleyball Earns Eighth Straight Win With Sweep at Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team picked up their eighth win in a row as they defeated the Merrimack Warriors in straight sets.
The Bobcats extended their streak to four straight matches without losing a single set as Elena Giacomini picked up her third straight double-double (14 kills, 13 digs).

SET ONE (25-17, Quinnipiac)
The Bobcats and Warriors traded points in the opening set as they saw themselves even at 13 points. A quick 5-0 run for the Bobcats gave them the lead in the set as the Warriors called their first timeout of the set.
Out of the timeout, the two teams traded points once again, but the Bobcats still held a 22-16 lead. After Merrimack called their second timeout of the set, Quinnipiac closed out the set on a 3-1 run.
SET TWO (25-19)
The two teams traded points to start the second set, but this time it was Merrimack that held a 15-14 lead at the media timeout. Out of the break, the Bobcats used a 6-3 run to take a 20-18 advantage as the Warriors called a timeout.
Two straight points incited the Warriors to use their final timeout of the set. Another 3-1 run for the Bobcats closed out the second straight set.
SET THREE (25-13)
Quinnipiac took an early lead in the third set as they led 11-6 as Merrimack was forced to use their first timeout of the set. Out of the break, the Bobcats went on a 5-0 scoring run to make it a 16-6 advantage.
After the Warriors used their final timeout, the Bobcats closed out the match with a 9-7 run to win the final set, 25-13.

- Elena Giacomini recorded her third straight double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs in the win.
- Yagmur Gunes registered 12 digs and eight kills in the three-set victory over Merrimack.
- Six different Bobcats recorded at least two kills in the win.
- Damla Gunes recorded 35 assists in the effort.
- The Bobcats combined for 42 kills compared to 24 kills from the Warriors.
- Quinnipiac picked up 9.0 total blocks compared to four from Merrimack.
