HAMDEN, Conn. — The No. 10/11 Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey program returns to M&T Bank Arena to begin a stretch of four home games in five outings as they welcome Hockey East foe for a pair of games.
The Bobcats are coming off a pair of tight losses in Orono, Maine, falling to the now-No. 6 Black Bears 2-1 and 6-5 in overtime. Quinnipiac split with UNH a season ago.
FANTASTIC FIRST YEARS
- Three Bobcats secured their first collegiate goals in Maine over the weekend, with Tyler Borgula, Chris Pelosi and Aaron Schwartz all finding the net in Orono.
- Borgula scored the Bobcats' lone goal on Friday and finished with a three-point weekend, leading Quinnipiac over the two games. Schwartz joins Borgula and Jeremy Wilmer at the top of the team leaderboard with three points in the campaign's first three games.
TAKE IT TO THE BANK
- The Bobcats have been dominant on home ice since the return of fans to the arena in 2021-22, sitting as the only team in the country to be Top 3 nationally in home winning percentage.
- Quinnipiac is 49-5-2 at The Bank since the start of the 2021-22 campaign and have won 15 of their last 16 games on home ice.
- They also have gone 39 consecutive games without a home regulation loss, with the last coming on Feb. 25, 2022 to Cornell.
WHERE THERE'S A WILM... THERE'S A WAY
- Jeremy Wilmer tallied the first and third goals of the night, helping the No. 8 Bobcats to a 3-2 victory over Penn State on Saturday night in the season opener.
- It was the Rockville Centre native's first multi-goal game since the 2022-23 season and just the second of his career.
- He also added his second career game-winner, scoring the one the Bobcats' needed to start the second frame.
NEW FACES, NEW PLACES
- Quinnipiac welcomes 14 newcomers to the roster this season, with five transfers and nine first years on the 2024-25 Bobcat roster.
- A pair of draft picks highlight the transfer class, as Charlie Leddy (Devils) and Nate Benoit (Wild) join the defensive core.
- Chris Pelosi and Elliott Groenewold are both drafted incoming first-years, as Pelosi was selected by Boston in the 2023 NHL Draft and Groenewold was drafted by the Bruins a year later.
JACK OF ALL TRADES
- After four seasons with Bill Riga and Holy Cross, Jack Ricketts joins the Bobcats for his fifth season and enters the 2024-25 campaign as the nation's leading goalscorer.
- With 47 goals over his collegiate career, he stands three ahead of Denver's Jack Devine and three ahead of three others for the nation's top spot.
- He has scored 35 of those in his last two seasons, including 19 a season ago, which helped him land on the All-Atlantic Hockey Second Team.
