Men's Hoops Improves to 11-4 in '23-24

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball cruised to another MAAC victory on Sunday afternoon in Hamden, as the Bobcats downed Manhattan by the final score of 76-59 at M&T Bank Arena.

Paul Otieno enjoyed another impressive day, posting a game-high 23 points to go along with nine rebounds. Otieno went 10-of-13 from the field for QU.

Amarri Tice registered his third double-double of the 2023-24 campaign, recording 12 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and three assists in the win.

Quinnipiac outscored the Jaspers 42-27 in the first half, then held a 34-32 advantage during the second half of action.

The Bobcats outscored Manhattan 48-32 in the paint. QU's largest lead was 26 points in the wire-to-wire win.

NOTES

The Bobcats shot 30-for-70 in total, including a 17-for-36 (47.2%) clip during the first half of play.
Paul Otieno finished his big weekend with a 23-point, 9-rebound performance. The senior big man finished a pair of league games this weekend with 47 points and 18 rebounds in two league victories. Otieno shot an impressive 20-of-25 during the wins over Rider and Manhattan.
Amarri Tice chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 30+ minutes on the floor. Tice added five steals and three assists, as the Bobcats were +19 while he was on the court.
Savion Lewis stuffed the box score once again with 17 points, seven assists and five rebounds, going 6-of-12 from the field. Lewis leads all of Division I basketball in assists still (7.9 APG).
Matt Balanc added 12 points and four rebounds, Richie Springs recorded six points and three rebounds, and Daemar Kelly added three points and four rebounds.
Quinnipiac outscored Manhattan 25-12 in points off turnovers. The Bobcats largest lead was 26 points (4:03 in the second half).
The Bobcats went 12-of-15 from the free throw line, as five QU players knocked down a shot from the charity stripe.
The Bobcats are now 10-12 against Manhattan since QU joined the MAAC (2013-14). QU has taken two of the last three meetings.
The Bobcats move to 3-1 in MAAC action (11-4 overall) with the win.
Quinnipiac is now 7-1 at M&T Bank Arena this year, outscoring opponents 656-553 in Hamden. Matt Balanc is averaging 20.4 PPG in home games during 2023-24, while Savion Lewis has posted 7.8 PPG, 9.1 APG, and 3.8 RPG in Hamden contests.
