Martin Scores 17 Points, Bobcats Down Peacocks

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team defeated the Saint Peter's Peacocks by a final score of 50-39 on Thursday afternoon in Hamden. Karson Martin (17 points) and Ella O'Donnell (13 points) combined for 30 out of the team's 50 points.
With the win, the Bobcats will improve to 5-6 on the season and 2-0 in the MAAC, while Saint Peter's will fall to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the MAAC. Quinnipiac extends their unbeaten streak against Saint Peter's to 20 games.
The Bobcats started strong off the jump as Karson Martin racked up five points in the first three minutes to put the Bobcats up 7-0, forcing Saint Peter's to call their first timeout. Out of the break, the Peacocks crept back in as they scored the next six points before Quinnipiac closed out the quarter on a 5-0 run. Karson Martin led the Bobcats with seven points after 10 minutes of play.
Saint Peter's came back mirroring Quinnipiac's first quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 11-6. Ella O'Donnell, Anna Foley, and Grace LaBarge each picked up a basket of their own.
Out of the halftime break, the two teams traded points to a 26-26 tie before Karson Martin knocked down one of her two free throws to make it a 27-26 game heading into the final quarter. The Bobcats outscored the Peacocks 10-9 in the quarter behind seven points from Karson Martin.
The Bobcats came out of the gates in the fourth quarter scoring the quarter's first six points, extending their lead to seven. The Bobcats defense stepped up, holding Saint Peter's to 28 points, while the offense extended their lead to 13. Quinnipiac never let Saint Peter's back in the game as they sealed the 50-39 win over the Peacocks.

- Karson Martin had another game where she scored double-digit points as she dropped seventeen points.
- Martin shot 7-14 (50%) from the field and racked up three rebounds.
- Ella O'Donnell picked up 13 points on 6-11 shooting (55%) and three rebounds.
- Anna Foley added eight points, nine rebounds and four assists.
- Maria Kealy filled the stat sheet, scoring three points, grabbing four rebounds, and recording five assists.
- Kealy's five assists is her new career high, as well as her four rebounds.
