Sollenne Leads QU With 15 Points, Bobcats Fall To Saints

EN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team fell to the Siena Saints, 78-60, on Saturday evening in Hamden. Ava Sollenne led the Bobcats with 15 points on 6 for 11 (54.5%) from the field and 3 for 7 (42.9%) from three-point range.
With the loss, the Bobcats will fall to 7-11 on the season and 4-5 in the MAAC, while Siena will improve to 9-8 overall and 6-3 in conference play. This is Siena's third win over Quinnipiac in program history and first since Feb 21, 2021.
The two teams started the game trading points with Siena taking a 7-6 lead into the media timeout. Out of the break, things went back-and-forth and was capped off by a wild shot from Karson Martin that fell at the buzzer to tie the contest at 14.
Siena began to pull away at the start of the second quarter, establishing a nine-point lead halfway through the quarter. The two sides traded buckets in the final five minutes of the quarter and saw the Saints take a seven-point lead into the locker room at the half. Ava Sollenne had five points in the quarter, including this nice finish off an assist from Kassidy Thompson.
Out of the halftime break, the Saints were able to establish a 14-point lead to force Quinnipiac to use a timeout. Siena didn't let Quinnipiac get much closer as they ended the quarter with a 58-44 advantage heading into the final frame.
Siena wouldn't let the Bobcats get closer than within nine points as they were able to outscore the Bobcats 20-16 in the final ten minutes and take the 78-60 win.

- Maria Kealy scored a new career high, scoring 13 points on 44.4% shooting and 1-1 from three-point range.
- Kealy was tied for the team lead with three assists (Karson Martin and Anna Foley).
- Karson Martin shot 50% from the floor and scored 12 points.
- Anna Foley recorded nine points and led the Bobcats in rebounding with 10 boards.
- Grace LaBarge got the start and scored seven points.
