No. 3 Bobcats Drop Overtime Contest at No. 14/15 Cornell

Quinnipiac erases two deficits, cannot score in extra session
ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 3 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program battled back twice to tie their matchup with No. 14/15 Cornell, but the Big Red would emerge victorious in overtime with a 3-2 victory at Lynah Rink on Saturday night.
Zach Tupker scored in his return to Cornell, tying the game with a shorthanded goal at the 10:10 mark of the period.
Cornell would re-take the lead 29 seconds later on the power play off a deflection in front.
Alex Power would respond 3:03 later, slotting a penalty shot home past the Cornell netminder after a Big Red defender covered the puck in the crease.
A scoreless third would send the game to overtime and Dalton Bancroft put home the winner at the 3:11 mark of the extra session.
STATS AND NOTES
Quinnipiac begins the CT Ice Tournament on Friday night, playing Yale at 7:30 p.m., at the XL Center in Hartford. The game will count towards the ECAC standings and the winner will take on the victor of UConn and Sacred Heart for the trophy on Saturday.
