QU Comeback Falls Short At Mount St. Mary's

EMMITSBURG, MD. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team fell to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers by a final score of 56-50 on Thursday night. Ella O'Donnell led the way for the Bobcats, picking up 15 points in the loss.
With the loss, the Bobcats will fall to 6-7 on the season and 3-1 in the MAAC, while Mount St. Mary's will improve to 4-10 and 1-4 in conference play. The Mountaineers picked up their first win against the Bobcats since January 30, 2010.
The Mountaineers came out of the gates firing on all cylinders, shooting 53.3% from the field and 50% from three-point range. Ella O'Donnell had six of the Bobcats first eight points in this contest.
The Bobcats were able to pull within six with just under seven minutes to play in the second quarter. Ella O'Donnell knocked down a layup through traffic to make it a six-point game.
From that point, it was all Mountaineers as they were able to extend the lead to 14 before ending the half up by 11.
The two sides traded points to start the third quarter, but a three from Grace LaBarge was able to bring the Bobcats within ten.
Later in the quarter, LaBarge knocked down crucial free-throws to bring the Bobcats within three before the Mountaineers hit a three to end the quarter.
The final quarter saw the Bobcats trailing by six, but their comeback fell short as they were defeated by the Mountaineers.
