Three Bobcats Score to Top Maine in Hamden

HAMDEN, Conn. — Graduate student Logan Angers made 20 saves to complete a 3-0, shutout victory over Maine for the Quinnipiac women's hockey team at M&T Bank Arena to open the season.
The Bobcats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Nina Steigauf hit a streaking Sadie Peart and she fired a wrister past the Maine goaltender 49 seconds in.
Early in the second period Julia Nearis scored her first goal as a Bobcat on a breakaway after Kate Reilly found her open in the middle of the ice.
Kendall Cooper finished the win off with an empty-net goal with just under 30 seconds remaining.
Logan Angers made several big saves throughout to keep the Black Bears scoreless.

- After scoring 12 goals a season ago, Julia Nearis, notched her first of the year and first with the Bobcats.
- Sophomore defenseman Tiana McIntyre notched the first point of her college career, assisting on the first goal of the game.
