Bobcats Earn At-Large Bid to NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Championship

QU to Face Penn State on Thursday in Columbus, Ohio
HAMDEN, Conn— The No. 8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team received an at-large bid to the 2023 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey regional tournament as announced by the league on Sunday, March 5. The Bobcats will face off against Penn State on Thursday, March 9 in a 6:00 p.m. matchup in Columbus, Ohio hosted by the No. 1 seed Ohio State.
The Bobcats will square off with Penn State in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday, March 9th at 6:00 PM in Columbus, Ohio. The winner will take on Ohio State on Saturday, March 11 at 5:00 PM.
Quinnipiac went 29-9 overall in 2022-23, going 17-5 in ECAC Hockey play. The Bobcats defeated St. Lawrence in three games in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals, then dropped a semifinal matchup vs. Colgate this past weekend in New Haven.
Penn State will be making their first NCAA Tournament appearance and won their first College Hockey America title this season. Quinnipiac and Penn State have met five times in their program's history with the Bobcats taking a 4-0-1 record.
Olivia Mobley and Kendall Cooper were named to the All-ECAC Second Team for their performance on the ice this year. Mobley led the Bobcats with 40 total points (15 goals, 25 assists) and Cooper helped anchor the Bobcats' defensive unit while chipping in with 20 points.
Head Coach Cassandra Turner was named an ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year finalist. In 2022-23, she coached the team to a 17-5-0 league record (27-7-0 overall) and a third place finish at the end of the regular season. Turner has led the Bobcats to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons.
