O'Donnell Records Double-Double in Bobcats' Loss At Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Sophomore forward Ella O'Donnell led the Bobcats with 22 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, but it wasn't enough as the Quinnipiac women's basketball fell short against Navy, 75-62, in the opener of the Navy Classic Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Hall.
Anna Foley added 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while Jackie Grisdale contributed 12 points in the loss.
With the loss, the Bobcats fell to 1-3 in the early campaign, while Navy improved to 2-1 to start the 2023-24 season.
The Midshipmen opened the contest with a 15-6 run behind four made three-pointers, forcing Quinnipiac Head Coach Tricia Fabbri to call a timeout down nine with 5:52 to go in the opening frame.
The Bobcats closed the frame with a 14-9 run behind seven first-quarter points from Anna Foley to trim the deficit to 24-20 entering the second.
After Quinnipiac trimmed the deficit to two, the Midshipmen responded with a 13-2 run to extend their lead to 37-24 midway through the second quarter. Navy held Quinnipiac to 10 points in the frame to take a 45-32 lead into the half.
The Bobcats opened the second half with a 7-0 run, trimming the deficit to 45-39 before Navy called a timeout with 7:12 remaining in the third quarter.
Quinnipiac held Navy to just four points over the first 6:13 of the second half, cutting the deficit to 49-43 with 3:47 left in the third quarter. However, the Mids held the Bobcats to just four points the rest of the frame to carry a 58-47 lead into the fourth.
Navy used the first 3:21 of the fourth to outscore Quinnipiac 8-3, extending the lead to 66-50. The Bobcats were never able to recover, eventually falling in the contest, 75-62.
