Pompeo Sisters Tally Goals in OT Loss Against Temple

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac field hockey team came up short in its BIG EAST finale, falling against conference foe Temple at home in overtime, 3-2, Friday afternoon at the QU Field Hockey Field.
The Pompeo sisters led the way with a goal apiece, while Stella Tegtmeier contributed two assists in the loss.
With the loss, the Bobcats fell to 6-10 in the 2023 season and 2-5 in the BIG EAST, while Temple improved to 10-7 on the year and 4-3 in conference play.

- Q2 – (19:42) – Off a penalty corner insert, Devin Kinzel fired home on a stopped pass and went low past the keeper to put Temple ahead 1-0
- Q2 – (26:11) – Stella Tegtmeier carried the ball into the offensive zone on a reset. She shuffled a pass to the left and stick of Lucia Pompeo. Pompeo directed the pass below the keeper to tie the match at 1-1
- Q4 – (45:58) – Off a penalty corner insert, Kinzel fired low and to the right of the keeper after the stop to put Temple ahead 2-1
- Q4 – (58:51) – On a reset, Tegtmeier carried the ball in the zone and fired home, the ball was redirected by Sophia Pompeo to tie the game at 2-2 and force overtime
- OT - (67:19) – Myrthe Schuilenburg scored on a rebound around the net to secure the victory for Temple
- Lucia Pompeo's goal was her sixth of the season, tying for the team lead with Tegtmeier
- Sophia Pompeo's goal was her fifth of the season
- Tegtmeier's two assists brought her season total to seven
- The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 29, when QU wraps the regular season at home against Drexel
- The match is set for a 12 p.m. start
