Schryver Nets Game-Winner in OT at Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI – Jess Schryver netted the game-winner less than a minute into the overtime frame, leading No. 8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey past Providence, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Schneider Arena.
The Bobcats remain unbeaten so far in 2023-24, improving their record to 6-0-0 to begin the new campaign.
Madison Chantler broke the tie less than 30 seconds into the third period, intercepting a Providence pass and finishing off a short-handed goal on the breakaway to give QU the 1-0 lead.
On the game-winner, Maddy Samoskevich turned toward the net then flipped the puck over to Schryver – who finished on the doorstep for her fourth goal of the season.

STATS AND NOTES
- Madison Chantler's goal is her second of the season. The sophomore has 14 goals over 46 collegiate games.
- Jess Schryver now has four goals in six contests this year. She has 14 scores over three seasons with the Bobcats.
- Maddy Samoskevich earned her 36th career assist on Schryver's game-winner.
- Logan Angers made 23 saves in the victory. Angers now has 137 saves, allowing just six goals over QU's first six games of the season.
- Quinnipiac held the advantage in shots (30-24).
- The Bobcats successfully killed off a pair of Providence power play chances.
- QU is now 5-10-2 against Providence since 2002. QU's weekend sweep is the program's first-ever over Providence.
