HAMDEN, Conn. — No. 8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey scored four unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the Providence Friars 4-1 at home on Friday, Oct. 13.

Providence scored halfway through the first period to take the lead on a shot from the slot.

Goaltender Logan Angers made several big saves to keep the score close through the first two periods.

After a scramble for the puck Zoe Uens found Julia Nearis on the far post and she buried it to the game.

Just over the halfway mark of the third Nina Steigauf picked up a loose puck and fired it short side over the goaltender's shoulder to give the Bobcats a lead they wouldn't surrender.

43 seconds later Jess Schryver cycled to the middle and shot to give the Bobcats a 3-1 lead.

With 2:45 left Sadie Peart hit the empty net to record her 100^th career point.

STATS AND NOTES

Sadie Peart became the ninth Bobcat to score 100 points in a career.
Nina Steigauf played in her 100^th career game.
Julia Nearis scored her second goal of the season and also added an assist.
Zoe Uens recorded her second assist of the season, matching her total from last season.
Jess Schryver notched the ninth multipoint game of her Bobcat career with a goal and two assists.
Logan Angers made 20 saves in the victory.
The Bobcats outshot the Friars 34-21.
Quinnipiac held Providence to 0-1 with no shots on the powerplay.
