Three Bobcats Record Double-Double in Loss at Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Quinnipiac volleyball continued its MAAC schedule with a thrilling 3-2 loss on the road against Canisius inside of the Koessler Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon.
Giorgia Donghi led the way for the Bobcats with 20 kills and 10 digs for a double-double, while Aryanah Diaz added 18 kills and 15 digs for a double-double of her own. Alexandra Tennon contributed a double-double as well with 14 kills and 11 digs in the loss.

The Bobcats fell behind 19-9 in the opening set before battling back to cut the deficit to 22-15. However, the deficit proved to be too great as QU fell in the set 25-15.
SET TWO (20-25)
The two sides played to a 4-4 tie in the set before Giorgia Donghi scored four of Quinnipiac's next five kills to force a Canisius timeout with the Bobcats leading 9-4 in the set. The Golden Griffins cut it to as close as 12-9 before QU extended the lead to 20-13. Canisius fought back again to get within 23-20 but QU held on for the 25-20 set win.
SET THREE (20-25)
The Bobcats jumped out to a 5-1 start behind two kills apiece from Aryanah Diaz and Donghi, before extending the lead to 12-7. Canisius battled back to knot the set at 15-15 before QU pushed ahead 22-18. The Bobcats were not deterred as they took the third set 25-20.
SET FOUR (25-23)
In a tightly contested set throughout, the two sides played to an 18-18 tie in the frame before Canisius pushed ahead 24-21. QU took the next two points to bring the deficit to 24-23, but the Golden Griffins secured the set with a kill to knot the contest at two sets apiece.
SET FIVE (15-7)
The two sides played to a 4-4 tie in the set before Canisius went on an 11-3 run to secure the set and match win in Buffalo.

- Three different Bobcats tallied a double-double in the match (Diaz, Donghi, Tenon)
- Donghi recorded career-highs of 20 kills and 10 digs for the first double double of her collegiate career
- Diaz totaled 18 kills and 15 digs for her fourth straight double-double in as many contests and her fourth overall of the season
- Yagmur Gunes posted career-highs of 24 digs and four aces
- Damla Gunes tied her career-high of 55 assists in the loss
- Tennon's double-double marked her third of the season
