Sakoda Leads Bobcats to Fourth Place Tie After Day One at NCAA Regionals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After the first round of play, the Quinnipiac women's golf team sits tied for fourth place at the 2022 NCAA Regionals hosted by Florida State at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course.
The 12th seeded Bobcats finished the day shooting a team score of 299 (+11) to sit ahead of six other programs, including fourth-seeded Ole Miss and fifth-seeded Illinois. The second-seeded UCLA Bruins lead the field with a team score of 288 (E), two shots ahead of third-seeded and hosts Florida State.
Quinnipiac's score of 299 (+11) marks the program's first team round score under 300 strokes at an NCAA Regional and the best single round score in an NCAA Regional, topping its score of 316 (+28), which the program achieved twice.
Kaylee Sakoda led the Bobcats in the first round with a 70 (-2). The junior's hot start ties her for third in the competitive field of 66. Aimee Uchida followed with a 74 (+2) to tie for 15th place, marking two Bobcats ranked within the top-15 to open the event. First-year Fuge Zhang tied for 39th after the first day of competition after shooting a 77 (+5). Reigning MAAC Golfer of the Year Leeyen Peralta followed by tying for 47th after shooting 78 (+6). Meg Yoshida rounded out Quinnipiac's grouping after carding an 83 (+11) to tie for 63rd.
