Bobcats Best Niagara, Advance to MAAC Tournament Title Match

WEST WINDSOR, NJ – Quinnipiac women's tennis downed Niagara, 4-0, in the semifinal round of the MAAC Tournament on Saturday, April 23, advancing to the MAAC Tournament title contest.

The Bobcats picked up the doubles point, then Alessia Truden, Kamilla Nella and Brittney Wilbur all won singles matches to send QU to the finals.

The No. 1 Bobcats will face No. 3 Fairfield in the title match on Sunday, April 24 at 10:00 AM at Mercer County Park Tennis Center.

Quinnipiac is now headed to its eighth MAAC Tournament title match since joining the conference in 2013-14. The Bobcats have won five MAAC championships/advanced to the NCAA Tournament five times (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18).

NOTES

All-MAAC Second Teamers Brittney Wilbur and Claire Koscielski picked up a No. 2 doubles victory, cruising to a 6-0 victory over Rodriguez/Humiston. The duo is now 6-1 in doubles matches vs. MAAC opponents.
Dominique Vasile and Jordan Bradley won 6-1 from the No. 3 doubles position – their fifth victory vs. a MAAC opponent this year. The All-MAAC Second Teamers defeated Mayet/ Velasco Mencos.
Alessia Truden won 6-0, 6-3 from the No. 1 singles position – improving to 6-1 in MAAC play.
Kamilla Nella won in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) over Gamble at the No. 2 spot. Nella has won three times in her last five singles outings.
Brittney Wilbur won (6-0, 6-1) at No. 6 singles vs. Velasco Mencos. Wilbur, a First Team All-MAAC honoree was 5-1 in regular season MAAC matches, and now 1-0 in the postseason.
