Bobcats Battle at Monmouth in Outdoor Season Opener

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Quinnipiac outdoor track & field opened the outdoor season at the Monmouth Outdoor Opener on Saturday, March 26. There were numerous career-best marks recorded at Monmouth on the track and in the field. Aisha Gay and Symone Foster led the team with first place finishes in the 200m dash and 100m hurdles, respectively.

- In the 100m hurdle finals, Symone Foster took first place with a time of 13.92. Kalli'ana Botelho was right behind Foster in second place (14.37). Both times were career-best marks for the seniors.
- Aisha Gay tallied a first place finish in the 200m with a time of 24.36, which is a new career best. Hayden Robinson placed sixth with a time of 25.35. Rylie Smith finished in 14th place with a time of 26.10. Eileen Donovan tallied a time of 28.10 in 41st place.
- Gay also placed third in the 100m dash with a career-best time of 12.32. Robinson took eighth place (12.85) and Jordan Mayo placed 24th (13.50).
- Three Bobcats ran in the 400m. Alyssa Romagnoli tallied a time of 58.31, finishing in fourth. Rylie Smith took 13th in her first collegiate outdoor event with a time of 1:00.29. Eileen Donovan notched a time of 1:03.96, finishing in 26th.
- Christina Gunsalus placed third in the 800m run (2:22.69).
- In the 400m hurdles, Camille Blain finished in 14th (1:11.22), and Avery Jordan took 15th (1:11.54).
- In the 1500m run, Alessandra Zaffina led the team with an eighth place finish, tallying a time of 4:47.89, which is a career-best time. Shannon Goria placed 32nd with a time of 5:04.93.
- Madeleine Shellard took fifth place in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 12:35.12.
- In the 5000m run, Kate Gihorksi finished in 19th place with a time of 19:11.17. Samantha Leal took 28th place (20:10.45).
- Maples took first place in the shot put with a 13.40m toss, which is a new career best.
- Kalleen Rose Ozanic placed second in the high jump with a 1.60m mark. Grace Davis took sixth place with a 1.50m jump.
- Botelho placed second in the long jump with a 5.60m leap, which is a new career-best mark for the senior. Britney Del Mundo finished in third with a 5.25m mark, and Zekiah Lewis placed fourth with a 5.23m leap, which is also a career best. Camille Sweet took eighth with a 5.10m mark.
- Lewis placed eighth in the triple jump with a 10.15m mark. Sweet took 10th place (10.11m), and Davis tallied a mark of 9.93m in 13th place.
- Maples tallied a 44.23m throw in the javelin, taking second place. Amanda Minervino finished in ninth place with a 33.96m throw.
Quinnipiac will take on the Colonial Relays at William & Mary March 31-April 2.
