QU Falls Short in OT at Manhattan, 73-69

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Mackenzie DeWees and Mikala Morris scored 18 points apiece to lead the Quinnipiac women's basketball team, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats fell short against Manhattan on the road, 73-69, in overtime inside of Draddy Gymnasium Wednesday evening.
Rose Caverly contributed 15 points, eight assists and five rebounds, while Amani Free added 11 points and five rebounds in the loss.
The Bobcats fell to 18-10 on the season and 13-6 in the MAAC with the loss, while the Jaspers improved to 18-10 on the campaign and 13-6 in conference-play with the win.

- Manhattan responded with a 9-0 run of its own to knot the contest at 9-9 midway through the first quarter before eventually taking a 16-14 lead into the second
- Trailing 19-18, QU went on an 8-2 run, powered by six points from Mikala Morris, to take a 26-21 midway in the quarter before carrying a 29-26 lead into the half
- After QU built its lead to 36-30 with seven minutes remaining in the third, Manhattan responded with a 14-4 run to take a 44-40 lead with 2:23 remaining in the frame
- Back-to-back buckets from Rose Caverly and Morris knotted the contest at 44-44 heading into the fourth
- The Bobcats used the first 3:30 of the fourth to outscore the Jaspers 12-5 to extend the lead to 60-53
- Manhattan responded with a 13-6 run to close the fourth knotted at 66-66 to force overtime
- The Jaspers held QU to three points in overtime, as Manhattan held on for the 73-69 victory
- Mikala Morris led the way with 18 points, seven rebounds and five blocks
- Her five blocks tied her career-high
- Her five blocks marked the sixth time this season where she has tallied 3+ blocks
- Mackenzie DeWees added 18 points and eight rebounds
