ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team's comeback attempt fell short, as the No. 3 Manhattan Jaspers downed the No. 2 Bobcats, 72-59, in the MAAC Tournament Semifinals on Friday afternoon at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.

Cur'Tiera Haywood led the way with 16 points and six rebounds off the bench in the loss.

GAME SUMMARY

The Jaspers used the opening two minutes of the contest to jump out to a 10-4 lead before carrying a 16-10 advantage into the media timeout with 4:44 remaining in the period
QU's first quarter deficit reached 15 points before Manhattan took a 27-14 advantage into the second quarter
With QU trailing 31-20 with 5:15 to go before halftime, the Bobcats closed the half with a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to eight into the break
After falling behind 37-27, QU responded with a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to 41-36 midway through the third
However, Manhattan outscored Quinnipiac 10-5 to close the third with a 51-43 lead
The Bobcats opened the fourth with a 6-2 run to cut the deficit to 53-49 with seven minutes remaining in regulation
With QU trailing 57-53, Manhattan responded with a 13-4 run to pull away before hanging on for the 72-59 victory over the Bobcats
