Bobcats Unbeaten in 10 Straight at Home
HAMDEN, Conn. – Junior Ethan Leyh deflected a shot by Zach Metsa past Union goaltender Connor Murphy to propel the #2/2 Bobcats to a 2-1 win over the Dutchmen on Friday night. The win at the People's United Center lifts Quinnipiac to a 22-2-3 overall record and an 11-1-1 mark in ECAC Hockey play.
Union scored the game's first goal after a puckhandling error by Yaniv Perets resulted in a loose puck in the crease. Josh Kosack potted the near empty-netter to open the scoring with seven minutes left in the period.
The Bobcats struck quickly with both the equalizer and game-winning goal over a 2:38 span in the second period.
After a Union penalty set up the Quinnipiac power play, senior Wyatt Bongionvanni ripped a one-timer past Murphy to tie the game at 1-1. Bongiovanni's goal came off a great feed from Zach Metsa while Brendan Less earned the secondary assist.
Leyh's goal less than three minutes later gave the Bobcats a 2-1 lead that would prove to be the difference in the game.

NOTES
- With the two-assist night, Metsa overtook Michigan's Owen Power for the nation's lead in points by defensemen (28). It also marks a career-high for Metsa in terms of points in a single season.
- Bongiovanni scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season in the win. The senior is two goals shy of his career-high mark that was set during his sophomore year.
- Despite the lone mistake in the first period, Perets was spectacular once again for the Bobcats. The first year made 15 saves in the third period including two highlight-reel stops that kept Union from tying the game.
- This was just the fifth game this season in which Quinnipiac trailed after the first period. The Bobcats improve 3-0-2 in such games on the year.
- The Bobcats out-shot Union 31-27 and took the faceoff advantage by a 38-35 margin.
- Head Coach Rand Pecknold coached in game 999 of his career tonight. Tomorrow's contest will mark the 1,000th of his storied career at Quinnipiac.
