Peralta Sits in First After Day One at Bear's Creek Invitational

MILL SPRINGS, NC – Junior golfer Leeyen Peralta leads the field after the first round of play at the Bright's Creek Invitational, hosted by Gardner-Webb on Saturday afternoon at the Bear Creek Country Club.
The Bobcats sit in fourth place of seven teams after shooting 314 (+26) after the first round. Jackson State stands in first place after shooting a 296 (+8) in the first round.
All five QU golfers finished within the top-20, led by Peralta, who sits alone in first. Aiming to secure her second first-place finish of the season, Peralta shot a 72 (E) in the first round.
Meg Yoshida followed, tying for 12th after the first round of play. A native of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Yoshida shot a 78 (+6) in the round. Aimee Uchida, Kaylee Sakoda and Fuge Zhang rounded out Quinnipiac's grouping, all shooting an 82 (+10) to tie for 19th after the first round.
Darby Lillibridge participated as an individual and tied for 15th after shooting an 80 (+8) on day one of the event.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 27 when they conclude competition at the Bright's Creek Invitational with 32 holes.
