Women's Ice Hockey Falls to No. 10 Providence

HAMDEN, Conn. — No. 3 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey fell short at home against No. 10 Providence, 3-2, inside of M&T Bank Arena on Saturday afternoon. Juniors Kendall Cooper and Nina Steigauf chipped in a goal apiece, marking three each for the duo on the season.
Junior Olivia Mobley, sophomore Maya Labad and first-year Madison Chantler contributed an assist apiece in the loss. With her assist on Steigauf's goal, Mobley extended her point streak to three straight games

- (6:40, 1st period, EV) Quinnipiac 1, Providence 0—The Bobcats got on the board early in the first period. A turnover in front of the Friars bench lead to a three-on-two into the offensive zone where Olivia Mobley backhanded a centering pass to Kendall Cooper who buried it over the left should of a sliding Sandra Abstreiter.
- (9:44, 1st period, EV) Quinnipiac 2, Providence 0—Nina Steigauf is back in the scoring column after the Friars turned the puck over at the blue line where Maya Labad was waiting to capitalize. Labad passed the puck up to Steigauf who went top shelf, a tight squeeze, over the right side of Abstreiter.
- (4:03, 2nd period, EV) Quinnipiac 2, Providence 1—The Friars started their comeback in the second period as Rachel Weiss beat graduate netminder Logan Angers low from the far circle.
- (13:35, 2nd period, EV) Quinnipiac 2, Providence 2—Providence evened the score at two when Sara Hjalmarsson picked up the puck that was left behind by Noemi Neubuaerova on an attempted shot. She was able to find the back of the net to the left of Angers from the slot.
- (8:26, 3rd period, EV) Quinnipiac 2, Providence 3—The Friars sealed their victory on a lucky bounce off the glass that slid under a diving Angers to a waiting Neubauerova in front.

- Kendall Cooper and Nina Steigauf each recorded their third goal of the year.
- Olivia Mobley's assist on Cooper's goal marked her 20th of the season.
- Mobley is currently on a three-game point streak.
- The Bobcats outshot Providence 46-13 through the contest.
