Bobcats Advance to Nutmeg Classic Championship

HAMDEN, Conn-- The No. 4 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team advances to the Nutmeg Classic Championship match on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. The Bobcats shutout Bemidji State 5-0, making that their sixth shutout of the season and junior netminder Catie Boudiette's third of the year.
Maya Labad scored the first two goals of the contest and had an assist. She was followed by assistant captain Sadie Peart, graduate captain Zoe Boyd and defender Maddy Samoskevich's first of the year late in the third period.

- (00:17, 1st period, EV) Quinnipiac 1, Bemidji 0: Maya Labad got the Bobcats on the board in the first 17 seconds against Bemidji. Assistant captain Sadie Peart took a shot from the point to find Labad waiting in the circle to bury the rebound past Beavers netminder Hannah Hogenson.
- (1:44, 2nd period, EV) Quinnipiac 2, Bemidji 0: Labad tallied her second of the night in the second period when she took a shot from the lower circle that deflected off a Bemidji defender and went right by Hogenson.
- (9:49, 2nd period, EV) Quinnipiac 3, Bemidji 0: Peart gave the Bobcats a 3-0 lead on a diving play to the left of Hogenson as she found the back of the net on a cross-ice pass from Samoskevich.
- (1:45, 3rd period, EV) Quinnipiac 4, Bemidji 0: Zoe Boyd joined in on the action after a turnover by Bemidji in their own end led to a Jess Schryver shot. Boyd found the loose puck in a mess of Bobcats and Beavers and tucked it by Hogenson.
- (12:06, 3rd period, EV) Quinnipiac 5, Bemidji 0: Samoskevich notched her first of the year when Shay Maloney moved the puck up the boards to Labad who backhanded the pass to Samoskevich in the slot to go just over the top of Hogenson's glove side.
NOTES:
- Maya Labad now has eight goals, one behind team leader Shay Maloney, and 14 points on the year, putting her in third in points for the Bobcats.
- Shay Maloney now has a four-game point streak with her assist on Samoskevich's goal.
- Catie Boudiette made 18 saves to record her third shutout of the year and sixth of her career.
- Both Catie Boudiette and Logan Angers have three shutouts each on the season.
- The Bobcats outshot the Beavers 39-18 through 60 minutes.
