
Graf Records First Collegiate Hat Trick as No. 5 Bobcats Shutout Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Sophomore forward Collin Graf tallied his first collegiate hat trick and captain Zach Metsa added his third goal of the year as the No. 5 Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team blanked rivals Yale 4-0 on Saturday night at Ingalls Rink.
The Union College transfer made his mark in the first period, scoring both in the frame to give the visitors the early advantage, including a howitzer from the left dot on the power play that doubled the advantage.
Sam Lipkin recorded a four-assist night, providing a helper on each of the tallies to bring his season total to seven, the most on the team.
Metsa made it a three-goal cushion in the third, wristing home a shot from the point to make it a 3-0 game before Graf closed out the scoring with 20.3 left in the third.
Yaniv Perets recorded his third shutout of the year and second in the last three outings, finishing the night with 15 saves to backbone the Bobcats' defense.

STATS AND NOTES
- Graf's hat trick is the first for the Bobcats this season and the first since Ethan de Jong tallied one against St. Lawrence on Nov. 20, 2021.
- Lipkin's four assists are the most by a Bobcat since Odeen Tufto tallied that number twice during the 2020-21 campaign. He did it on Dec. 26, 2020 against American International and Feb. 22, 2021 against LIU.
- Quinnipiac extended its win streak over Yale to 9-0 since March 2, 2018. They have outscored the Bulldogs 36-5 during that span.
- Metsa recorded his second multi-point outing in the last four games. He also has an assist in back-to-back contests, as well as three of the last four and four of the last six.
- Räsänen dished his first assist of the year. It is also his second point of the campaign.
- The Bobcats' 45 shots on frame were the most this season, besting the 44-shot output against Colgate on Nov. 4.
- Johnson has started to find a groove offensively, dishing assists in three of his last four outings after a helper tonight.
- Brind'Amour added a helper today to finish off a three-point weekend after a pair of assists yesterday.
