Torres Earns BIG EAST Rookie of the Week Honors

HAMDEN, Conn. – First year goalkeeper Cristina Torres was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Nov. 1. This is the second weekly award honor for Torres and the Bobcats this season.

In a 2-0 weekend for the Bobcats, Cristina Torres allowed just two goals despite facing 13 shots in net for a blistering .846 save-percentage. Torres opened the weekend making seven saves in the Bobcats 4-2 win over BIG EAST foe Providence this past Friday. She followed that performance with two saves and a scoreless 57 minutes in net to help lead Quinnipiac to a 3-0 win over Sacred Heart this past Sunday.

Torres ends her rookie campaign with seven wins and three shutouts in 2022, becoming the first Bobcat netminder to record that many shutouts in a season since Graham Conaboy notched seven clean sheets in 2014.

The accolade marked the second BIG EAST Weekly award honor of Torres' career.
