Bercedo Scores Pair of Second-Half Goals in the Victory
HAMDEN, CT – Quinnipiac men's soccer battled though the rain on Wednesday afternoon at the QU Soccer Stadium in Hamden, earning a 3-2 victory over Marist.
Tomas Svecula scored in the first half to give the Bobcats an early lead, then David Bercedo netted a pair of scores in the second half to help seal the victory.
QU moves to 7-3-1 (2-1-0 MAAC) with the win. The Bobcats are a prefect 6-0 at home this year, outscoring opponents 23-7 in Hamden.

- (15' – Marist 1, Quinnipiac 1): The Bobcats were able to strike back just 17 seconds later. Tomas Svecula dribbled into the box, evaded a Marist defender, then blasted a shot with his right foot into the back of the net to even things 1-1.

Second Half
- (52' – Quinnipiac 2, Marist 1): David Bercedo scored less than 10 minutes into the second half to give QU a lead. The Bobcats played a ball into the box off a corner chance, shot twice on net (both saved by the Marist keeper) – then the captain located the loose ball and blasted it into the back of the net for his ninth goal of the 2022 campaign. Luke Shierenbeck tallied a helper on the play.
- (66' – Quinnipiac 3, Marist 1): David Bercedo scored again, streaking up the sideline on a ball from Alexander Stjernegaard and finishing for his second goal of the contest.
- (74' – Quinnipiac 3, Marist 2): Demarre Montoute scored for Marist to bring the Red Foxes within one goal again in the 74th minute.
- The Bobcats outshot Marist 17-7 in total. QU attempted seven corner chances to Marist's six.
- QU is 8-1-2 vs. Marist since 2007. The Bobcats are 5-0-2 vs. the Red Foxes in Hamden during that span.
- David Bercedo is now up to nine goals after scoring twice in the win. The captain has scored five times in QU's last four contests. Bercedo has 21 points in total this year.
