Perets Breaks Program Single-Season Shutout Record
HAMDEN, Conn. – First-year goaltender Yaniv Perets stopped 29 shots and senior Desi Burgart scored the game-winning goal in the third period to propel #2/2 Quinnipiac to a 2022 Connecticut Ice championship victory. Perets set the Quinnipiac program record for shutouts in a single season with his ninth of the year.
After both teams were held scoreless for the opening 40 minutes, Burgart broke the deadlock after crashing the net and finishing a rebound off a shot by first year Jacob Quillan.
Both teams applied pressure throughout the remainder of the third, but both goaltenders kept the score at 1-0 until Quinnipiac senior Ethan de Jong finished off the victory with an empty-net tally in the game's final minutes.

NOTES
- Perets set the program's single-season shutout record thanks to a 29-save performance that included 13 stops in the third period. Perets is the 7th goaltender in NCAA history to record nine or more shutouts in a season.
- With the shutout, Perets lowered his GAA to 0.79 on the season and lifted his save percentage to .955, both of which would break or tie NCAA records if the season ended today.
- Burgart's goal was his third game winner of the season and fifth of his career. He is one of six Bobcats with more than one GWG this year.
- As a team, the Bobcats have tied the NCAA Division I record for shutouts in a season with 12. The record was set by Niagara in 2000.
- The Huskies became the first team to outshoot Quinnipiac this season, finishing the game with a 29-26 advantage in that category.
- Oliver Chau has recorded at least one point in 14 of his last 15 games, totaling 20 points in that stretch.
