QU Wins Second-Straight Contest to Begin Fall 2021 Campaign
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer won its second-straight game to begin the new season on Friday afternoon at the QU Soccer Stadium, earning a 1-0 victory over UMass Lowell.
David Bercedo netted the lone goal less than 20 minutes into action. Goalkeeper Antreas Hadjigavriel made two saves, and the Bobcats' defense recorded its first clean sheet of the year.

- David Bercedo's goal is his fourth as a Bobcat in 11 games. He scored three times over nine contests during the spring 2021 campaign.
- Antreas Hadjigavriel made two saves in a shutout. It's his third career clean sheet. The sophomore shut out Manhattan (4/8/21) and Siena (4/11/21) during last season.
- Tomas Svecula and Henry Weigand each assisted on Bercedo's goal, as both recorded their first helper of the new year.
- With the victory, Eric Da Costa now owns a 125-111-52 record in his time as head coach of the Bobcats.
- Total shots were 13-12 in favor of the River Hawks, while the Bobcats held a 6-2 shots-on-goal edge.
- QU is now 1-1-3 since 2016 against UMass Lowell. The previous three matches against the two programs ended in a draw.
- Quinnipiac returns to play on Wednesday, Sept. 8, traveling to Sacred Heart to continue non-conference action.
