Pennsylvania-Native Scored 1,000+ Points in '20-21 Season at Rocktop Academy
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's basketball program received a commitment from guard Bernard "Bernie" Blunt, as announced by Head Coach Baker Dunleavy and the team on Thursday, May 20.
Blunt most recently played for Rocktop Academy – a prep school in Prussia, Pennsylvania. The 6-foot-1 point guard scored over 1,000 points during the 2020-21 season at Rocktop Academy, averaging 29.5 points and 6.0 assists per game.
"We're excited to welcome Bernie Blunt to our Quinnipiac Basketball family," Dunleavy said. "Bernie had a stellar career under great guidance at Peddie High School, then continued to develop his skills with an impressive postgrad season last year at Rocktop Academy.
He is a high-character student-athlete who possesses the ability to shoot with great range and score at a high level. Bernie comes from a basketball family, and plays a winning style that will help our program as we continue to compete for a MAAC championship."

Blunt recorded 20+ points in 15 separate games this past season, highlighted by a 50-point performance against #1 IMG Academy Postgrad (Florida). He posted 50 points, seven assists and seven rebounds in the Feb. 19 game vs. IMG Academy.
The Morgantown, Pennsylvania-native also poured in 40 points vs. #19 Harcum College, 38 points vs. Olympus (NJ), and 35 points on three separate occasions during 2020-21 at Rocktop Academy.
Prior to playing at Rocktop Academy as a postgrad, Blunt played at Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey. He averaged over 20.0 points per game at Peddie School, dropping 47 points vs. Pennington in 2019-20. Blunt scored over 1,500 points at Peddie.
Before Peddie, Blunt played for Twin Valley High School in Elverson, Pennsylvania. He averaged 24.0 points per game, shooting 51.0% from the field and 93.0% from the free throw line.

Bernie will join the Bobcats ahead of the 2021-22 season as a first-year student-athlete with four full seasons of eligibility remaining. He is the third announced addition for the Quinnipiac men's basketball program in the spring of 2021.
The Bobcats first announced the signing of Hannibal High School/Moberly Area Community College standout guard Dezi Jones (Hannibal, Missouri) on April 25.
Quinnipiac then revealed the return of forward Kevin Marfo on April 26. Marfo led the nation in rebounding (13.3 RPG) in 2019-20 for the Bobcats, then spent the 2020-21 season at Texas A&M.
