HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's soccer team opened the 2021 Spring campaign with a 3-1 victory over the Marist Red Foxes. Three different Bobcats scored in the win, as the Bobcats took down the Red Foxes in their first game in 487 days.

First-year Courtney Chochol, senior Hannah Reiter and sophomore Olivia Scott recorded goals in the 3-1 win. The Bobcats out shot the Red Foxes 16 to 6 and controlled 56% of the possession in the win. Marist's Natalie Kelchner recorded 13 saves. Sophomore Fleur Cordier led the team with three shots on goal. First-year Rebecca Cooke recorded two assists in her Quinnipiac debut.

SCORING SUMMARY

Second Half

(36' – Quinnipiac 0, Marist 1): The Red Foxes took a 1-0 lead with about nine minutes left in the first half. Amanda Caldarelli netted her first goal of the season from Nicole Sasso. A Marist corner floated into the box and Sasso flicked a header to Caldarelli, who also headed it past Quinnipiac's Meaghan Phillips.
(49' – Quinnipiac 1, Marist 1): The Bobcats got on the board early in the second half with a goal from first-year Courtney Chochol. First-year Rebecca Cooke tallied an assist.
(77' – Quinnipiac 2, Marist 1): Senior Hannah Reiter netted the game-winning goal off a cross from Cooke. Reiter flicked a header backwards past Marist's keeper to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead. Junior Selena Salas also recorded an assist on the goal.
(79' – Quinnipiac 3, Marist 1): Two minutes later, sophomore Olivia Scott scored a rocket of a goal from outside the 18-yard box. Selena Salas received the ball from first-year Olivia Kudrikow and sent a five-yard pass to Scott, who shot the ball off the bounce past Marist's Kelchner.

NOTES

The Bobcats outshot the Red Foxes 33 to 9 (total shots) and 16 to 6 (on goal).
Chochol netted her first career goal, and Cooke recorded two assists in her Quinnipiac debut.
Reiter scored her first goal of the season and fourth of her career, and Scott also tallied her first goal of the year and fourth of her career.
Salas and Kudrikow also recorded assists in the win.
Sophomore Meaghan Phillips and first-year Sofia Lospinoso split time in the net and made five saves total.
